Creativity

New Media allows people to find creative ways to spread news, educate and attract people's attention. New Media allowed companies to find new, creative and cheap ways to advertise their product. If anyone noticed, many advertisements that are placed online don’t really explain the company or the product/service they are selling, instead, they post something funny or to grab many peoples attention to create a brand presence online. For example, companies like Geico place ads on youtube that have nothing to do really with insurance but a funny scenario and put their tagline. The Internet reaches the masses, which naturally creates communities of people that are creative and have many ideas that people can use. In the article “Twitter Serves Up Ideas From Its Followers” companies like Twitter are using comment their users place to come up with creativity. This shows, not only New Media allows us to be creative but also meet/listen to people that are creative and we take their advise...

Creativity and New Media

New Media allows people to become creative and find new ways to do something we have done for 100's of years. Something I value the most of new media is the ability to create convenient educational videos, for example, if you wanted to understand what a Government Bond is or how Interest Rates work you can watch a few minute videos on Investopedia to have a visual and short straight to the point video.  These videos that make understanding a topic simple and easy saved me time and helped to understand many different things, especially from Investopedia and Khan Academy. I emulated these types of videos on my own and created an animation of giving a step by step instruction on how to ace a job interview. The video was made by Animaker, my first time using it. The video is below, hope it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnDqzLh6YGM

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Virtual worlds can be used in a variety of industries and scenarios that would bring benefits and obstacles. Some ways virtual reality can be used is video games, networking, and social media. In the article "In Room 100, It’s Sid and Nancy All Over Again," explains a site where people can hang out with each other in a 3-D virtual world. This would replace the idea of going into a bar and meeting new people to hang out with. Why go out in hopes to enjoy each others company when you can stay at home to do the same with others. This would bring pros and cons. One pro can be that you save money, time and get to have more variety in the type of environment you hang out with meeting multiple cultures and personalities. Cons will come in abundance, however. A few cons would be that people can alter their personality and use it as a tool to spread hate and negativity because of the safeness behind the keyboard. Another con would be that people would be become isolated and h...

Blog about Twitter

Twitter compares with discussions on Blackboard by making all the students involved. It is always great to hear everyone's opinions and views on topics. However, using Twitter for a class discussion is much more efficient and fun than Blackboard. The word count allows the tweets/comments to be subtle and straight to the point. On Blackboard the long dreadful comments often go off tangent and change the point of the discussion, sometimes would be good but often not optimal. Twitter discussion may be more compared to an in-class discussion because the comments of the students are straight to the point. However, in a discussion questions aren't really asked opposed to the many questions asked in class. However, overall Twitter discussions may be the most efficient way to have a class discussion.

Social networking sites

Facebook - This site gives the impression of putting your personality onto the internet. This site is used to connect with people from the present and the past. Most importantly, used to share posts and events that you are interested in and support. Today, if a person is active on Facebook you can tell immediately what generation and the political party they are and what their personal life consists of. Twitter - This site is similar to Facebook in showing your personality but this site is used to voice your opinions and observations. This site is more interpersonal than Facebook by having more activity. For example, if an award show is on live rest assure there will be millions of Tweets of people voice their opinions on an artist performance or what they are wearing. Instagram - This site is different than Twitter and Facebook by living by one motto: "pictures speak louder than words." This site helps you share what type of life you live, giving a glimpse of what y...

Blog Social networking

Corporations can use social networking to their advantage by sharing their message to the mass audience and connecting to customers or potential customers at the same level. It brings a personality to the brand which the customers can use to see the company at a personal level. Before the creation of these social networks corporations had to spend thousands of dollars to put ads on newspapers and television to keep brand awareness high and telling the customers that their product or services offer. Other than marketing they can directly target new employees by using social networks like Linkedin, in the article "Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting" it shows how a job recruiter can directly message a potential candidate with an opportunity. This is greatly beneficial by making the corporation develop a personal relationship with a candidate, which helps them compete with other companies. A personal relationship will make the candidate more inclined to work f...

Wikis vs Blogs

In today's world, everyone wants a voice. Due to the great tool of the internet, that desire can turn into reality. Whether it is sharing our personal opinion or view on something or if it's to add some factual research we have found to add to a topic discussion, sharing is sharing. That is where the distinction between Wiki and Blog comes into play. The latter, blogs, is used to give someone the ability to share their own experiences, their opinions and their views on pop culture or niche topics. It is a tremendous tool to gather a good sense of an argument by viewing different perspectives and a great way to understand other peoples POV. For example, in the article "Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid" people began to share their experiences of drug deals and fights that happened within a neighborhood. The combination of a few peoples experiences and perspectives led to a drug bust by the police of crack houses. It is also another example of understanding people...
