Advice

If I were hired by Baruch College to use new media in hopes of improving the school, I would develop two aspects that will help several students.

One, I would start making educational short, straight to the point, videos on how to perform the essential tasks as a college student. For example, many students do not know how to navigate through CUNYFirst or knowing different resources Baruch offers like SACC tutoring and how to take advantage of it. These videos would be posted on some sort of blogs and made by students so there are a personal voice and connection for students.

Second, along with those videos, I would also have a Wiki page that gives the students the ability to share information, news and their opinions on campus-wide situations. It would be a private social media type page with just Baruch students.

Next New

I think we should have a new media that creates a virtual device that allows us to shop in stores virtually instead of buying online. Imagine, at home, you can virtually walk around Whole Foods or Macy's in current time and you can browse around and see the details of the clothing or the quality of the produce. This can be a better experience buying online when you order something and it is nothing like the pictures in person. It would also help companies promote new products to the new generation that shop online but don't browse in stores to find new things. You can also make virtual stores not actual. Just a more better way to shop online.
