Topic: Wikipedia: A Business Model that should have Flopped A site that saved many of us during that stressful essay, trying to understand something new in an organized way or just to read about the personal lives of our favorite celebrities. Wikipedia is a " free online encyclopedia, created and edited by volunteers around the world and hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation." Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger founded the company in January 2001, at first intended to be profitable like many sites. However, while being the fifth most visited site online, it still makes no money and relies on fundraising.
